For many, Bohemian Rhapsody is better than sex: Survey

Queen's head-smashing hit Bohemian Rhapsody is the top song men and women think is better than the horizontal mambo, a new U.K. survey says.

The study found more than 40% of the 2,000 music fans surveyed think listening to tunes is more arousing than that touchy-feely stuff during the deed.

Also on the top 20 list of songs better than sex: Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon and Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer.

Daniel Mullensiefen, a music psychologist at Goldsmiths, London University, said the songs on the list are all considered unique, epic masterpieces that yield strong emotional feelings.

The study, with participants 18 to 91 years old, also found listening to tunes while between the sheets is just as important as sex sounds.

Mullensiefen said he's not surprised music is arousing in the bedroom.

"From neuro-scientific research we know that music can activate the same pleasure centres of the brain that also respond to much less abstract rewards such as food, drugs or indeed sex," said Mullensiefen, who conducted the study on behalf of digital music service Spotify.

And the music that tops the list for during sex? Think Johnny and Baby - The Dirty Dancing soundtrack.
