An Arab couple has been charged after allegedly trying to smuggle their five-month-old child into the United Arab Emirates by putting the baby boy into their carry-on luggage.

Police said the couple arrived from Egypt on Friday, but the child didn't have the proper visa in his passport.

Officials told the couple they'd have to wait at the airport until Sunday.

"But the impatient parents waited for the shift to change on Saturday morning at 10, and the father allegedly convinced the mother to join a queue at the immigration counter and place the child in the luggage," police said.

According to police, an officer spotted the parents putting the child in the luggage.

"The police arrested the parents and saved the child from being exposed to the dangers of radiation," police said.

The couple is charged with endangering the life of the child and infiltration.
