Health Canada issued a recall Wednesday of 65,000 infant bathing seats after there were reports of head injuries from falls. The recall affects the Mother's Touch baby bather in both pink and blue with a five-rivet hinge.

The units were sold across Canada between Sept. 2004 and Nov. 2011. Summer Infant Inc. says some parents are using the bather as a baby carrier, contrary to the warning on the product's packaging and instructions.

When used this way, the headrest can fold, and the child can fall.

The manufacturer has received seven reports of incidents in Canada and the US, five of which involved head injuries. Parents are advised to contact Summer Infant Inc. for a free repair kit with a locking strap, but to refrain from using the bather as a carrier even after installing the strap.

More information, including the list of model numbers affected, is available from the manufacturer at 1-800-426-4627 and summerinfant.com.
