Three quarters of Canadians will dole out as much on costumes and candy as they did last year, the Harris/Decima survey says.
"Consumer confidence is holding steady, which is a good sign for retailers," said Diane J. Brisebois, president and CEO of the Retail Council of Canada, which commissioned the poll. "Halloween is the third most important retail season of the year, after Christmas and back to school."
Single-person households plan to spend an average of $24, households with three people plan to spend $66 and those with four or more will spend $75.
Quebecers are the most likely to spend more of their Halloween budget on costumes and decorations.
