Jenna Talackova
Jenna Talackova, 23, will be allowed to strut the Miss Universe Canada stage with the other 60 finalists, the pageant owned by mogul Donald Trump has decided.
"The Miss Universe organization will allow Jenna Talackova to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions," reads a statement by Trump headquarters in New York City.
Talackova said she had final gender reassignment surgery four years ago and is a full-fledged woman.
She will hold a press conference in L.A. on Tuesday.
Miss Universe rules require candidates to be "naturally born" female.
Talackova failed to mention on her application that she was born a he, and was punted from the competition last month.
The resulting furor went worldwide and included petitions calling for her reinstatement.
The pageant runs May 19 at the Bluma Appel Theatre in Toronto.
