Truck-surfing kids caught on camera

QMI AGENCY

MARIEVILLE, Que. - A resident in this town near Montreal was shocked to see a man driving through the streets Thursday with his children clinging to the outside of his pickup truck.

The YouTube video shows two elementary school-aged youngsters hopping on the running board as the truck takes them for a ride.

The truck stops at one point and two more children jump on board, with all four clinging to the window sills as the truck transports them down the street.

A neighbour tells QMI Agency that the man had taken the children truck surfing several times before she decided to film the stunt and post it on the Internet.

"This is not the first time this has happened, except that this morning, I thought that was enough," said the woman, who refused to give her name. "There is something he's not getting."

The neighbour said the father's irresponsibility is outrageous.

"Next time what is he going to do - let them onto the roof?" she asked.

"This isn't trash, they are children."

She said she has complained to provincial police, who could levy a fine.

Several deadly car surfing cases have made headlines across Canada in recent years, including a 24-year-old man who died while doing the dangerous stunt in West Kelowna, B.C., last June.
