Two injured in plane crash near Montreal

A small plane crashed shortly after takeoff around noon Saturday, June 30, 2012, on Highway 20 west to St. Mathieu de Beloeil, Montérégie.

BELOEIL, QC - Two people were seriously injured after a small plane crashed onto a Quebec highway west of Montreal Saturday morning.

Provincial police said the victims' injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The crashed occurred on a stretch of highway about 35 km west of Montreal. Police closed the road to traffic.

One of the passengers was ejected from the plane after the aircraft made impact. Rescuers removed the second passenger from the plane. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital.
