Manitoba group seeks donations to save puppy clinging to life

Kix will be getting surgery Saturday night to make sure he heals properly after being attacked by a larger dog.

WINNIPEG - A puppy attacked by another dog is clinging to life and needs surgery.

The Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue (MMDR) organization learned of a homeless puppy that was attacked by a larger dog in a northern community.

The puppy, named Kix, suffered severe injuries and tears to his skin and was near death.

The rescue group flew the dog to Winnipeg to undergo surgery. The dog was too traumatized to be operated on Friday but was expected be get surgery Saturday evening.

More donations are needed to help cover the costs of the surgery.

MMDR takes in an average of 10 to 20 stray dogs a week across Manitoba.
