CALGARY _ Shaw customers are back online and call centres are up and running across the country after repairs to its Calgary hub, the company said Saturday.

Shaw Court suffered significant damage to electronics after sprinklers were set off throughout the building when a transformer exploded on the 13th floor Wednesday afternoon, sparking a small blaze.

Around 20,000 business and household clients were left without cable, telephone or Internet service.

The building also houses a data centre for IBM, which provides services to the city and the province.

Access to electronic health records was affected, resulting in 110 elective surgeries and 298 ambulatory procedures, such as hip replacements, having to be rescheduled.
