The 26-year-old woman was staying with friends at a home in Sundre - about 130 km northwest of Calgary - when she was attacked, suffering significant injuries, mainly defensive wounds to her arms, said RCMP Const. Val Dennis.
"She's been airlifted by STARS to Calgary," he said.
"She is expected to survive."
The woman was familiar with the dogs, said Dennis, and police don't know what caused them to attack.
The dogs were seized by Sundre bylaw officers and are currently being quarantined.
Police are familiar with the dogs, said Dennis, but they have not been aggressive in the past.
"We've never had any difficulty with the dogs but we're familiar with them, just because they're pitbulls," he said.
"We've attended the residence but not on account of the dogs."
A man and a woman - the dog's owners - were in the home at the time.
