Officers and Sault Ste. Marie Human Society officials searched Circle H Ranch on Friday, seizing at least five dogs, a number of cats and three horses.
The condition of the animals was due to, "malnourishment, neglect, lack of shelter and inappropriate conditions," police said.
Police say one dog was euthanized. More than 30 horses will remain on-site and receive regular visits from animal protection officials.
Circle H Ranch says on its website that it offers guided trail rides, pony rides, hay rides and winter sleigh rides, as well as wedding and birthday packages.
Rebecca Hurley was arrested at the ranch and charged with causing or permitting unnecessary suffering of animals. She is to appear in court on Oct. 15.
Sault Ste. Marie is about 680 km northwest of Toronto.
