The wild scene happened in the parking lot of Laval University in the provincial capital on Sunday as the popular Rouge et Or football team defeated McMaster.
Campus security called police after they spotted a six-year-old girl inside a car as the temperature hovered around 30 C. Police found a woman, who appeared to be drunk, and escorted her to a car.
She suddenly sped off with the girl still inside, prompting an officer and a bystander to run after the car.
The constable forced the door open when the car stopped at a red light but the woman sped off again, this time with the officer hanging on.
The suspect punched the officer repeatedly while driving away but he somehow managed to immobilize the vehicle and arrest the suspect.
Manon Lacasse-Delarosbil, 27, was to appear in court Tuesday after a judge denied a bail request the previous day.
She had initially been unable to post $1,000 bond.
