A Nova Scotia teenager was found guilty Friday of second-degree murder for stabbing his girlfriend more than 100 times.
Judge Anne Derrick said the now 18-year-old man he was well aware of what he was doing wen he stabbed his 17-year-old girlfriend to death in December 2010, reports the Cape Breton Post.
He claimed in court not to remember stabbing the girl because he'd been popping prescription pills and doing shots of moonshine that day.
"I am satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that he intended to kill the victim, an intent he formed nothwithstanding his intoxicated condition," the judge said.
His name is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because he was 16 when he committed the murder.
The Crown is hoping to have him sentenced as an adult. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
