OTTAWA - Maj. Christopher Lunney will face a general court martial starting Thursday in the death of Corp. Joshua Baker and the injury of four other soldiers on a training range in Afghanistan in February 2010.

Baker was 24 years old when he was killed near Kandahar City in a weapons-related incident on a training range.

Investigators allege safety procedures were violated in the planning and execution of range activities on the day Baker died.

Lunney is accused of three counts of negligent performance of a military duty and two counts of breach of duty.

Two of Lunney's subordinates were also charged in June 2011.
Maj. Darryl Watts and Warrant Officer Paul Ravensdale face several charges, including manslaughter.

Their courts martial have not been convened yet.
