OTTAWA — A lucky teen is recovering in hospital after nearly drowning in the pool at Carleton University Saturday morning and she has a few lifeguards to thank for her life.

Paramedics were called to the pool just after 7 a.m. where a 14-year-old girl was found at the bottom of the pool during a swim club. She was unresponsive when pulled from the pool by lifeguards and paramedics say her heart had stopped.  Lifeguards performed two minutes of CPR on the girl. They were able to restart her heart and she regained consciousness following a short seizure.

The girl was awake and in serious condition when paramedics arrived, six minutes after the call.

The teen was taken to hospital, were she remains in stable condition.
