WINNIPEG – A young man being sentenced for brutalizing and sexually assaulting a Winnipeg family documented his dark fantasies in stories and journal writings seized by police.
In one story, entitled "Scenario One," the man describes in brutal detail beating, raping and murdering the wife, son and daughter of a family friend.
The then 17-year-old boy identifies himself and his victims by their real names.
Early in the story, the teen bemoans the "mind-numbing pain" of spending time at the family's home.
"It was enough of a stress inducer to drive anyone like (him) f------ insane. Little did anyone know that today, that's exactly what would happen. (He) was going to go ape s---- on everything around him."
In the story, when he finds a large knife in his knapsack, the teen's mind turns to thoughts of rape and murder.
"He tried again to fight the evil. But he knew it was pointless to try. It was going to happen and it was going to happen now."
The teen goes on to kill the young boy in his bed, assault and bind the young girl and rape and kill their mother.
Throughout the story, the teen describes his murder weapon as "his beloved" and "his only true friend."
The teen wrote the story in July 2010. Weeks earlier he told his doctor "he has given up on a normal life and ... wants to kill people."
