A Mississauga, Ontario, man is accused of trying to abduct and sexually assault a two-year-old while she was out on a weekend bike ride with her father in Toronto.

Police said the girl was riding alongside her father on Saturday at Millwood Park, in the city's west end, when a man drove his car up to them and got out yelling obscenities as he approached the girl.

Along with the help of passersby, the father was able to restrain the suspect until officers arrived, police said.

David Briggs, 46, is charged with attempted abduction of a person under 14, sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching, assault with intent to resist arrest, possession of cocaine and possession of a controlled substance.

He appeared in court on Sunday.

Police say they believe there may be more victims.
