OTTAWA – An Ottawa man accused of trying to infect six young men with HIV threatened to have the fiance who dumped him charged with attempted murder for infecting him, court heard Monday.

"I'm filing a lawsuit because the police told me to for attempted murder and that's what you will be charged with," Steven Boone wrote to his ex, an American man. "Under Canadian law you committed a crime for which you will be (extradited)."

The man responded that he never lied to Boone about his HIV status and broke up with him because he was "super manipulative."

Boone is facing charges including administering a noxious thing, aggravated sexual assault and attempted murder involving six young men. The Crown alleges Boone tried to kill others by infecting them with HIV.

He has pleaded not guilty.

In a series of text messages Boone sent in November 2009, shortly after discovering he had been infected with HIV, Boone appears alternately threatening and love sick about losing his "beautiful prince.”

"I was OK with having HIV because I was with you," Boone wrote. "But if you leave me it will all be for nothing. Don't do that to me.

"I'll love you forever. You are my everything."

The Crown alleges that shortly after sending those texts — from December 2009 to April 2010 — Boone tried to infect a string of sex partners with HIV, succeeding once.

Boone made a series of admissions in MSN chats read by a detective at his trial Monday.

"We're poz vampires - I love turning a boy poz," Boone declared in one chat read in court.

He bragged in another chat of "breeding” — having unprotected sex — with an 18-year-old "hottie" whom the detective identified as one of the alleged victims in the case. Boone said they had sex three times, court heard.

Boone's friend asked him in one chat whether the teen knew Boone was HIV-positive.

"Nope - didn't tell him," Boone replied. "He'll be poz now."

The teen was not ultimately infected with HIV.

In the chats, Boone tried to persuade sex partners to have "bareback" sex by telling them he was "clean,” even though he was really HIV-positive.

If that didn't work, court heard, he described slipping the condom off during sex or simply sabotaging the condoms.

"I never get rubbered," Boone said in one MSN chat, adding a winking face. "If I do it's because I pierced holes in the condom for little condom Nazi boys."
