CALGARY -- Police say a three-year-old boy will need facial surgery after being mauled by his family dog Wednesday night.
Cops were called to the home in the 100 block of Fallswater Rd. N.E. at about 8:30 p.m.
Insp. Paul Stacey said the three-year-old boy accidentally stepped on the tail of the dog, described as a shepherd.
It attacked, mauling the tot’s face.
“He is going to need a lot of stitches and plastic surgery,” Stacey said.
The boy was taken to hospital in serious, non-life-threatening condition.
The dog was voluntarily surrendered by the family to animal services.
