WINNIPEG — A man was stabbed to death Friday night in Winnipeg's west end.

The man, 39, was stabbed on Friday evening before making his way to a nearby pizza restaurant at 6:30 p.m.

Staff at Pizza Shack called 911 after the victim, bleeding severely, walked in and sat down at a table.

The man was pronounced dead after being taken by ambulance to Health Sciences Centre.

"He came in, but he was bleeding so much from his neck," said Sandeep Uppal. "I feel bad for the guy."
Cops are focussing their investigation on the three-storey apartment block just north of where the victim is believed to have been attacked at a party in a suite.

Area residents reported seeing officers remove several people from the apartment. However, police were tight-lipped on their search for suspects.

"We're not acknowledging any arrests at this time," said Const. Jason Michalyshen. "Homicide investigators were called out yesterday evening, and they've been working around the clock on it."

Cops have not released the victim's name. Michalyshen did not have details on where he lived.

Police spoke to staff and customers at the restaurant on Friday evening.

Though Uppal was not at the eatery when the victim arrived, his mother, other employees and some customers were on hand.

"Customers were nervous," Uppal said. "When people see blood, they get nervous."
