BARRIE, Ont. -- One of two teenagers hit by a vehicle early Sunday on Innisfil Beach Road, just south of Barrie, died at hospital.

South Simcoe police said three teen cyclists – two aged 16, one 17 – were eastbound on the road between Sideroad 10 and County Road 4 at about 1:35 a.m. Sunday

“The person driving the motor vehicle was eastbound, didn't see them, struck two of the three cyclists,” Sgt. Brad Reynolds of South Simcoe police said.

The 17-year-old male was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said, while the second teen struck was taken to a Toronto hospital trauma unit with serious injuries.

“He had serious injuries and they were still treating him,” Reynolds said.

The third teenage cyclist was uninjured.

Names have not been released and no charges have been laid.
