SAINTE-SOPHIE, QC - All-night swingers' parties featuring loud Jacuzzis and throbbing music have prompted the town of Sainte-Sophie, QC, to turn to the courts for peace and quiet.

The Supreme Court of Canada ruled in 2005 that partner-swapping orgy establishments are legal.

The Quebec town hopes to shut down the Ole Ole club using a local bylaw that prohibits "erotic recreational commerce" in the community of 13,000 about an hour north of Montreal.

Condoms, lubricants and towels are provided to paying customers at the club, and the sex parties continue well into the night on Fridays and Saturdays.

Neighbours interviewed by QMI Agency are unanimous: the noise is unbearable.

"It's like having a bar next to my house," said one, while another added, "better that they shut the place down."

The court filing names owners Francis Crepeau and Benoit Mallette and his spouse Joanne Taillon, who have owned Ole Ole for two years.

They make no apologies for the sex parties. They say the place isn't even set up to make money despite the $60 entry fee per couple.

"These are private parties, on invitation," Mallette told QMI Agency. "We are not a bar. It's a perfectly normal house, except that we have more beds and a bigger sound system."

Mallette says the entry fee is only to cover operating costs such as washing the sheets and maintaining the Jacuzzi.

"We don't make money off this."
