Six young people arrested in 'horrific' sexual assault on two BC boys

Six young people are in custody and one person remains in hospital after what police in BC called a "horrific sexual assault" on two boys.

Prince George police said the victims were targeted. A group of youths and young adults lured the boys to an apartment building, where they were attacked.

Police found one of the boys lying unconscious in a snow bank behind the building on Monday, following an anonymous tip. He was treated in hospital. A second victim later identified by police remained in serious but stable condition in hospital Friday.

Police said Friday they'd arrested Hayden Lee Alwood, 18, and Mercedes Rae Jewett, 20, as well as three teen boys aged 15, 17 and 17 and 15-year-old girl.

They are charged with one count each of aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm, and two counts of unlawful confinement.

The Youth Criminal Justice Act prevents police from releasing the names of victims or accused who are under the age of 18. Prince George is about 780 km north of Vancouver.
