CALGARY - It certainly warranted a refresher on setting a good example and keeping public confidence, but police officers caught on camera during an alleged cop-on-cop street race will not face any internal discipline.

A video surfaced on YouTube earlier this week showing two marked cruisers and an unmarked vehicle at a red light, one appearing to rev in anticipation of the green light, hit the gas to get to Tim Hortons'.

Police launched an investigation, conceding, without a date stamp, it would be difficult to identify officers involved.

They were spared the legwork when an officer involved came forward, police spokesman Kevin Brookwell said Wednesday.

Police confirmed they have identified the officers involved and the police cars did not exceed the speed limit.

"They didn't break any laws but the optics looked bad," Brookwell said.

"It's about setting a good example and public confidence."
