EDMONTON -- A veteran city cop was fired for misconduct Tuesday after a three-month-long internal investigation into how she handled the identity of a confidential informant.

Const. Lori Lamb was charged with two counts of deceit as well as two counts of discreditable conduct and one count of insubordination, police said.

She was terminated during a sentencing hearing Tuesday that was closed to the public.

Police say Lamb was also found guilty of providing false information in a search warrant document as well as lying to the police Professional Standards Branch.

In a statement released by the Edmonton Police Association, Lamb said her termination was due to "mistakes in how I protected the identity of a confidential informant."

Lamb said she acted "without the benefit of proper training and advice" and that she believes officers are held to "an unattainable standard."

"Progressive discipline does not seem to exist anymore in EPS," wrote Lamb.

"Instead of using this as a training opportunity for the service, the Chief and his designates have chosen to make an example out of me."

"There appear to be many issues with the EPS disciplinary process that involve collateral issues, personal views and bias."

The investigation was launched last October and the charges were proven in December 2012, police said.

During the investigation, Lamb was relegated to administrative duties.
