Edmonton man charged in alleged teen sex exploitation


EDMONTON -- City vice cops have charged a 55-year-old man after a 16-year-old girl took drugs and money in exchange for providing sex.

A man was arrested on Thursday in connection with the exploitation of a female under the age of 18.

The vice team began investigating the sexual exploitation case in November.

The alleged trolling reportedly took place between February and November 2012 in the area of 96 St. and 118 Ave.

Mark James Shannon, 55, has been charged with two counts of procuring a youth for sex (under 18), trafficking in a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance and proceeds of crime.
