LONDON, ON -- Firefighters were working to contain a spill from a city sewage truck that crashed around noon on Tuesday.

Liquid poured out of the ruptured tank after the truck flipped on its side on Riverside Drive at Wonderland Rd.

The driver of the truck was cut out of the vehicle and taken to hospital.

No other vehicles were involved.

The eastbound lanes of Riverside were completely blocked by the crash, and the northbound lanes of Wonderland were down to a single lane.

Emergency crews on the scene at 1 p.m. expected it would take an hour before the streets were reopened.
