Two people are dead after a shooting Friday afternoon outside a home in Bracebridge, Ontario.

A concerned resident phoned police after they heard shots fired just before 4 p.m., provincial police Const. Derek Wickett said.

One victim was found unresponsive at the scene and paramedics took the other person to hospital where they died.

Police are being tight-lipped, but said public safety is not an issue.

Bracebridge is about 185 km north of Toronto.
