Take a good look at the 25 women vying for Brad Smith's affections on The Bachelor Canada.

Do any of them look like Rachel Weisz or Kate Beckinsale to you?

If they do, those women may have a head start -- or maybe a heart start -- as The Bachelor Canada debuts, Wednesday on Citytv.

Those names came up when Smith, a former Canadian Football League player, was asked to identify some of the famous women on whom he had, or still has, crushes.

"Two girls that come to mind right away, my first two girls, were Rachel Weisz and Kate Beckinsale, and that's because I always was attracted to girls with accents," Smith admitted.

"That whole English accent thing always gets me. When I was watching The Mummy (with Weisz) when I was growing up, and then when I first saw Kate Beckinsale, wow, both times.

"But the strange thing is, I always liked dark-haired girls, but I've always dated light-haired girls."

OK, I used to be a sportswriter, so right here I could make a remark about professional athletes and the women who love them.

But it might be seen by some as stereotyping, or at the very least insensitive, so I'll leave it open-ended and give you the opportunity to provide your own snide comment, if you wish.

Anyway, back to Smith's tastes in women.

"So my classic type would be like a Scarlett Johansson, obviously, that sounds cliche to say," Smith said. "But I'm more of that less makeup, classically beautiful, rather than model-hot, you know what I mean?

"Like, everyone can say Charlize Theron, because everybody finds her attractive. But Rachel Weisz, Kate Beckinsale, they're very classically beautiful women, and they look like they don't need makeup.

"They can probably just throw their hair up in a ponytail and walk out, and you'll be like, 'Oh my God, she's gorgeous.' I like the kind of woman who, if you saw her on the street, you'd notice her as quickly as if you saw her in a magazine."

It remains to be seen if Smith will find his dream girl on The Bachelor Canada. But he insisted he has the right attitude going into it, and that he truly is open to finding his dream girl, rather than being cynical about the process from the outset.

And all joking aside, the winner won't really have to be a Rachel Weisz or Kate Beckinsale look-alike. Will she?

"There are a lot of gorgeous celebrities, obviously," Smith said. "But Rachel Weisz and Kate Beckinsale, those are my main two that I think about."

Let the fake English accents begin.
