Health Canada is warning Canadians about unlicensed at-home testing kits for HIV and other diseases because it hasn't tested them for safety or effectiveness.

The health agency said the Home Aware kits use urine, saliva and blood samples to apparently test for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases. Health Canada reminded retailers it's illegal to advertise or sell unlicensed HIV and STD test kits in Canada.

Health Canada said the kits, sold at curaherbdistributor.com, may provide the user with false test results.
