Safety gates recalled

Health Canada has issued a recall of baby gates because the slats can detach and potentially injure a child.

The recalled Safety 1st Gates by Dorel Distribution Canada come in swing-gate and pop-in-gate styles, Health Canada said in a release.

Health Canada says the wooden slats on the gate can detach, creating a fall hazard. There have been four reports of incidents, and one minor injury.

Approximately 13,000 gates were sold between June 2012 and April 2013 from retailers including Walmart, Sears and Costco. Customers can find the model number on the bottom rail of the gate, and contact Dorel for a replacement.
