EDMONTON -- Edmonton's wealthy men are some of the most promiscuous in the country, according to an online dating website geared toward the jet set.

The poll was conducted by SeekingArrangement.com (SA), a dating website that focuses on introducing the wealthy with potential romantic partners who may have non-monetary benefits to provide.

"Our website caters to sugar daddies," said Jennifer Gwynn, public relations manager for the site.

"Most of the men who come to our site are either divorced after a long marriage or are not looking for traditional relationships. They want a mutually beneficial relationship."

The website's poll asked 2,000 Canadian men whose SA profile listed them as making more than $200,000 a year how many sexual partners they have in a year. From those results, a count was made of how many answered seven or more and at 74%, Edmonton ranked third behind only Victoria, BC, (78%) and Ottawa (75%).

"We considered seven (partners) a year to be pretty promiscuous," Gwynn said, adding the national average was closer to three or four.

The results say little about Edmonton's rich and even less about the city's men in general, though, as the men polled were only those registered to a site that focuses on romantic relationships.

Along with that, there is no screening process to ensure registrants are actually as wealthy as they say they are, which could make Edmonton simply the third most boastful city.

Gwynn said there is a verified profile that members can opt for to confirm their claims, but most rely on being able to walk the walk.

"A lot of our relationships do have a luxurious lifestyle that is going to be pretty obvious," she explained. "If you try and enter into a relationship and you can't keep up with that lifestyle or you don't make as much as you put on your profile, you probably wouldn't last very long with what you're trying to do."

Gwynn said participants agree on terms of relationships before they become involved and those could include allowances, gifts and travel.
"The guys are looking for a young, fresh girl," she added.

She said she was a little surprised that some larger cities like Calgary were not on the list of most promiscuous.

"Calgary is a huge city in Canada. I would assume most metropolitan areas would be on the most promiscuous list. That was most surprising to me. Population-wise it was so low," she said.

Most of the site's members are young women (sugar babies) looking for a sugar daddy, but they also have wealthy women (sugar mommies) looking for young men, as well as both of their gay counterparts.

Gwynn said of the 1.7 million members, roughly a million are straight, female sugar babies and straight sugar daddies number closer to 85,000.

Gwynn said a list of least promiscuous women is being released next week as well and she said Calgary is not on that list either.

"It's kind of interesting to see what cities have promiscuous men, some of the times they don't match up. It's interesting to see where they find their people," she said.

The company is based in Las Vegas with its largest membership in the U.S. and Canada.
