Police were called to a hardware store in downtown Pekoskey, Mich., early Wednesday after a passerby spotted Batman on the roof.

Officers were called shortly before 1 a.m., and found a man dressed in a Batman costume hanging off the side of the building, holding on to the roof with his hands, said Chief John Calabrese of the community's public safety department.

Officers went onto the roof and brought the man up with them.

Police said the wannabe caped crusader was found with several weapons on his person, including a collapsible baton, a can of chemical irritant spray and a pair of lead-lined gloves.

He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon on at least six charges, including several counts of possession of a concealed weapon.

The man, who cannot be named until he is arraigned, is known to police, and several years ago could be seen in town dressed in the white and black face paint of Brandon Lee's character from The Crow, a 1994 film about a murdered man who comes back to life to avenge his murder and that of his fiancee.

Petoskey is located in northern Michigan, about 430 km north of Detroit.
