An American 1873 dime has been auctioned off for nearly $2 million in Philadelphia.

The pristine gold coin was purchased Thursday night by a collector who wished to remain anonymous, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

It sold for $1.6 million, plus a 15% buyer's fee.

The rare 1873-CC No Arrows Liberty Seated dime is the only remaining coin from a one-day run of dimes from Carson City, Nev.

A total of 111 pieces were auctioned Thursday at the American Numismatic Association convention for nearly $10 million.
