It was supposed to be her wedding day, but for a Pennsylvania woman accused of murdering her fiance, the day ended with her in jail and her husband-to-be in the morgue.

Some relatives of the bridegroom had been staying with the couple at their apartment in Whitehall Township for the wedding that had been scheduled for Saturday. They told police the pair started to argue early Saturday morning when the bride-to-be allegedly stabbed Billy Rafael Brewster, 36, the Morning Call newspaper reported.

Brewster was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly before 3:30 a.m. Saturday, the Lehigh County district attorney said.

Brewster's wedding had been set for 10 a.m., the Morning Call reported.

Na Cola Darcel Franklin, 31, is charged with murder.

At an arraignment Saturday afternoon, Franklin asked the judge to see whether Brewster was really dead.

"You got to check again," she pleaded, the local newspaper said.

Whitehall is located about 100 km north of Philadelphia.
