Two people have been killed and at least eight others were wounded in a shooting outside of the Empire State Building in New York City on Friday, according to a New York police source. One of the dead was the shooter, the source said, adding that there was no apparent link to terrorism.

The New York Post reports a dispute between co-workers ended in gunfire. CNN said witnesses suggested the gun was larger than a common handgun and looked more like a semi-automatic weapon

Police reportedly killed the gunman before 9 a.m., with hundreds of people on the street nearby.

Reports say a female bystander died, and others have been taken to hospital.

The body of the shooter was still lying on the street in front of the building, a popular tourist area, Friday morning.
