Restaurant owner accused of shooting at complaining customers

QMI AGENCY

Police in Florida have charged a restaurant owner who allegedly opened fire at two customers after they complained about their meal.

Marshall Phillips and Destin McMahon said a server at Wazzabi restaurant in Winter Park started arguing with them and causing a scene when they said they were unhappy with the food and the service, WFTV reports.

Phillips paid his $13 bill, but McMahon refused to pay the $19 he owed because he'd sent back his meal after just a few bites.

But when they tried to leave, the server and two other men followed them out and started banging on their car, kicking it and leaving dents, they told the news channel.

As they made their getaway, keeping an eye on the men in the rearview mirror, they saw a flash and heard a "pop," which police said was a bullet fired by the restaurant's owner, Quoc Tran.

Tran, 55, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. His cook, Hoai

Trong Tran, is charged with criminal mischief. The server wasn't charged.

According to the report, Phillips said he might sue for the damages to his car, including the bullet lodged in his bumper.
