A pregnant New York City woman was found stabbed to death at her home Saturday, a day before her wedding, media reports say.

The New York Post reports Vindalee Smith, 38, was found unconscious inside her Brooklyn apartment Saturday at 9:30 a.m., police said.

A source told the newspaper she was eight-months pregnant, and had stab wounds on her neck.

Smith was a mother of four, and friends told the newspaper the frequent churchgoer was supposed to be married the following day.

The newspaper reported Smith's oldest daughter, Monique, went to her mom's house and broke down crying when she heard the tragic news.

“It was so sad. She came for a baby shower and a wedding — but now she has to stay for a funeral," a friend of Smith's told the Post.

Smith worked with the elderly at a home health-care agency, the Post said.

The fetus didn't survive, the Associated Press reports.

Police are hunting for suspects.
