A nine-year-old girl in a skunk costume was shot by a relative at a Halloween party in western

Pennsylvania on the weekend when she was mistaken for the animal, police say.

Police told the Beaver County Times the girl was wearing a black outfit with a black hat and white tassel when a male relative accidentally shot her in the shoulder with a shotgun outside the home Saturday night. She was airlifted to hospital in Pittsburgh.

Police said alcohol isn't believed to be a factor, and investigators aren't sure if charges will be laid.
