Prince William and Catherine Middleton are expecting their first child, palace officials confirmed on Monday.
The child, regardless of sex, will be the heir to the British throne.
The news of the pregnancy after Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was admitted to hospital with acute morning sickness.
In a statement, St. James's Palace said: "Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby."The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news."
As the news became public, British Prime Minister David Cameron took to Twitter, saying "I'm delighted by the news that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting a baby. They will make wonderful parents."
