Reddit user gateflan posted the photo of a bill for $34.93 earlier this week with the caption, "My mistake, sir, I'm sure Jesus will pay for my rent and groceries." The customer had crossed out the suggested tip amount and written in a zero, signing the note "Pastor."
The bill quickly made headlines online and on Wednesday, Applebee's fired the waitress, The Consumerist reports.
The waitress, whose name is Chelsea, told the Consumerist she posted the photo of the receipt, which wasn't for one of her tables, because she thought it was insulting but comical. The customer contacted Applebee's on Wednesday, demanding that everyone involved be fired, she said.
