Two months after his wife was killed in a car he crashed, a Florida man has been charged with drunk driving causing death.

A report has also emerged that Amanda Notebaert was naked from the waist down and sitting on Matthew Notebaert's lap when their car went into a canal.

Palm Beach County police arrested Matthew Notebaert on Wednesday and charged him with one count each of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and DUI property damage.

On an outing March 9 in Loxahatchee, about 80 km north of Miami, the Notebaerts passed three dead-end warning signs before they "drove off the end of the roadway and vaulted across the water-filled canal," police said.

The arrest report said Amanda wasn't wearing any clothes below the waist and was on her husband's lap at the time, according to WPBF News.

Amanda was pronounced dead at the scene and Matthew was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
